My Favorite Election Moment in Seattle

Soon after President-Elect Obama's acceptance speech, I wandered out onto the Ave here in Seattle. As I headed just north of 45th Street I saw two men about to beat each other to a pulp. Then a bystander yelled at them. "STOP IT! OBAMA IS PRESIDENT NOW! STOP!"

Then the two guys sort of growled at each other and backed off.

It was amazing.

Then one of them yelled, "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT BOY? That's right, turn around and keep walking. Stay cool. Stay in school." So I kept walking and stopped watching. And I guess I will stay in school, too.

  2. You seem to have a knack for finding yourself in strange situations. But with good advice like "stay cool, stay in school," you shouldn't have any trouble.

  3. OK, that is a fascinating moment. There is a kingdom of God illustration if I ever heard one. What was he saying? There is hope, we should be celebrating, we should be brothers and not enemies...because there is going to be a new president... So - the announce ment of the kingdom of God - Jesus is now King! - should stop us in our tracks too - at least maybe stop us from beating each other to a pulp. At church meetings. Much less on the Ave.
