Help Name My Next Book!

My (exceedingly wonderful) publisher is not-so-sure that the title I originally suggested for my next book is, indeed, the best one. So we have put together a little survey to SCIENTIFICALLY DETERMINE the best title USING SCIENCE.

The survey is directly below, and I would greatly appreciate your honest response. Remember, it's for posterity.

ALSO, because the genius minions at BHR are to be loved, lauded and given special privileges, please leave any additional thoughts you have in the comments here... which names you like, which you hate, and why. If you have thoughts for other names, those will be gladly accepted as well. THANK YOU!
Thank you for filling out a survey on what is bound to be your favorite novel of this year. Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey, the world's leading questionnaire tool.

  1. I just ordered your first book from Amazon.

Is the new one werewolves or zombies or both?

  2. Now that I look at it, my first comment seems kind of weird. Point was that I don't feel I know enough about your writing to make decent suggestions. I've just been enjoying your blog! A little more info would be fun.

  3. This is an excellent point, and I debated spilling the beans a little bit about the plot... but I wanted to make sure that the title people choose is one they would like without knowing what the book was about.

But we'll hide a little bit here in the comment section... the book has a Lutheran werewolf looking for redemption, a church full of zombies looking to expand their congregation and a friendly neighborhood vampire, all wrestling through the question of what it means to be human and how to experience spiritual transformation. It is, of course, a comedy. :)

Thanks for buying Imaginary Jesus! I hope you enjoy it!

  4. "Night of the Living Dead Christians" is perfect.

I think it points to what I understand to be the overall context of the book, and then puts the focus on the living dead Christians.

Didn't the publisher let "Imaginary Jesus" include a comment about Peter punching Jesus in the face on the back cover?

I think the other titles stink. Unless there is a better option, NLDC is the way to go

  5. Jared's my rabbi on this one. Don't like the others.

Well, your exceedingly wonderful publisher wants to make sure that ALL avenues are explored. Such attention to detail is part of what makes us so exceedingly wonderful. :) Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!--Sarah (P.S. Does Posterity ever say thank you? We're always doing things for him and I never even get a postcard.)

  7. Jared-- Indeed, the publisher not only allowed the Jesus being punched in the face moment on the back of the book, but Sarah (who comments above) actually wrote the back cover copy. She's quite talented.

Dave-- Ha ha. Jared's your rabbi. I think we should consider adding rabbi into the title of the book.

Sarah -- You really are exceedingly wonderful. I say that with complete sincerity. I love working with you guys.

Looking forward to reading this next book. I can see why after reading the comments, that it would be difficult to title.

  9. So it's really a monster christiany comedy book, is what I'm hearing. Which sounds great. My only suggestion then might be to come up with a title that capitalizes on the whole monster genre, Universal Studios and otherwise. (I'm thinking, for instance, of Andy Stanley's "It Came From Within" cover. The title wasn't too specific, which I think was good, and paired with the cover art, it set the tone.) Night of the Living Dead Christians is cool, but seems a little niche to the Christian market, which could limit things outside of that context. (Honestly, I feel a little stupid making suggestions, but you asked!)

  10. I've just read Miriam's book review (on her blog of book reviews)of your first book and I look forward to reading it myself.

Thanks for providing a bit of insight into this new book. It does help when one is trying to 'name a book' to have a tiny inkling of what it is about. I agree with the choice made by Jared and Dave.

It sounds like it could be an interesting a definitely different read!

  11. I do not like any of the werewolf titles. NLDC is the best in the list but possibly not the best title. Hard to know without a read. Maybe we should all get a draft to help give title input. How about Seeking the Light or From Darkness into Light or Dead of Night, Drawn to Light.

    There's my 2 cents.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD CHRISTIANS is the perfect title for this book! Please DON'T change it! Your publisher MUST know this!
