Tips for postmoderns

It seems that many of my Post-Modern friends have forgotten our Secret Pact to Frustrate the Modernists, and they are embracing the generalizations and guidelines to postmodernsim suggested by the media.

Don't forget point one of our Credo:

1) Deny every generalization of our generation.

Here's an example.

MODERNIST: The postmoderns are fiercely individualistic and hate to be pigeon-holed or put into a box.

POSTMODERNIST: That is simply untrue. I, for one, like to be put into a box. You just don't understand us.

  1. How 'bout...

Modernist: Postmoderns reject the notion of absolute truth.

    Postmodernist: That's absolutely not true!

    or...

Modernist: Postmodernists seem to be against everything. All they do is argue with you.

Postmodernist: Well, yeah, you have a good point there. I guess I'll have to rethink my position.

  2. Dean... I would have never expected a staunch modernist like yourself to understand.

And of course I would like to take this moment to say that modernism and post-modernism are very similar. In fact, 2/3s of the letters in "post-modernism" are included in "modernism." The only thing different is the "post".
