The View from Our Bathroom Window (Germany)

Of all the amazing things we saw on our European adventure, perhaps the most startling and unexpected was the bathroom at our hotel in Frankfurt.

Not that a bathroom window is an amazing innovation. In fact, one of the bathrooms here in my own house has a window. But this bathroom had a window in the bathroom door. In the picture on the left I am looking into the hotel room from the bathroom.

I know what you are thinking. "Perhaps the window was cleverly placed so as to minimize the compromising views possible."

To which I can only say, "I don't think so." Here's a view of the throne room from the porthole.

And what scandalous exposition of a windowed bathroom would be complete without a quick glance at the shower?

  1. Were there hooks on the door above the window to hang a shirt on? Maybe it's a "bring your own curtain" style bathroom.

  3. I agree with Ken. Although, I think the one from the shower should be your new profile picture. Such a fierce gaze.

  5. Be glad there was a door. When my sisters first moved into our sorority house there was a door to the bathroom but no stall doors or shower curtians for the first summer.

Did you also discover that the light switch in German bathrooms is actually outside of the bathroom? I found that incredibly strange. It just screams "turn the light out on the person in there!"

  7. Ha. This remins me of an apartment that we looked at for this year in Rijeka. It was super cheap, big, and near the center. The only issues were the bathrooms. One was actually on the balcony and the other's entrance was a sliding glass door from the kitchen... Um, so it's not just the Germans with funky bathrooms!
