A talk with @mattleeanderson about his new book and how to ask questions well

This week you can check out a question and answer time with Matthew Lee Anderson, who just wrote a book about the difference between questions and doubt, what questions are appropriate for Christians, and much more. It makes interviewers feel awkward when someone is sitting there, judging your questions as you ask them. It's a great conversation. I think you'll enjoy it.

You can also join the giveaway to win a copy of Anderson's The End of Our Exploring: A Book about Questioning and the Confidence of Faith.

Some of the recent StoryMen podcasts you might have missed include author John Otte, comic writer and teacher Christy Blanch,  author Jeff Goins, Leanne Shirtliffe, Ally Vesterfelt and Lorie Langdon and several episodes where JR., Clay and I discuss everything from liturgy to our favorite historical moments that we wish were movies. You can find all those at the link as well.

Have a great weekend!

How to get published: insights from me and author Clay Morgan #writing #amwriting

As you all know, I have three professionally published novels out there in the world, with two non-fiction books on the way and hopefully more fiction, too. Clay Morgan has a non-fiction book out there, too, and I can't spill the beans on his other projects but there are more books on the way, I'm sure.

We get asked ALL THE TIME, "How can I get published?" So we decided, along with our compadre JR. Forasteros, to share our journeys to publication along with some tips and hints we've picked up along the way.

You can listen to the podcast or watch the conversation on YouTube here. You can, of course, also subscribe to the show via iTunes if you prefer.

If you have more questions after listening to the show, please let us know. We'd love to do another show answering your questions!

So: any questions about how to get published? About writing or the writer's life? About our secret projects which cannot yet be revealed?

Crowdsourcing, the church, evangelism and potato chips.

That's right, it's time once again for The StoryMen. This time, JR., Clay and I go solo (all three of us go solo? How is that possible?) without a special guest and have a great conversation about the popularity of crowd sourcing and social media and how that can be used to advance the Gospel, we do a potato chip taste testing and JR. invents THE MOST TERRIFYING BOARD GAME EVER.

And here's where you can subscribe on iTunes.

And yes, we do discuss the issue of Batman on your left. Because we have to talk about Batman every episode (it's in our by-laws).

StoryMen with author Julianna Baggott is live!

Julianna Baggott is the author of Pure and Fuse, the first two installments in a post-apocalyptic, dystopian trilogy of novels with strong religious themes and beautiful writing. She graciously appeared on the StoryMen podcast and I can speak for JR. and Clay when I say we found her charming, interesting, insightful and entertaining.

You will, too.

Here's a link to the show, which includes links to all of Julianna's sites. Our facebook fan page. Or, download it on iTunes.

StoryMen episode eight

The new StoryMen podcast went live Friday.

I was sick when this one was recorded, but it has Dallas Jenkins as the special guest/Mikalatos stand-in, and of course Clay and JR were still on the show.

NEW STORYMEN PODCAST IS UP AND RUNNING

You guys. I totally neglected to tell you that the new StoryMen podcast is up and running and wonderful. But it is. And you can listen to it here.

I have to say, this is rapidly becoming of the most fun things I do, hanging out virtually with Clay and JR. and talking about pop culture, theology and history.

Any suggestions for topics/guests/conversations are welcome!

Storymen Episode 3 is up!

I was out all day today and didn't have a chance to tell you all that the third episode of Storymen is up and available for your listening pleasure. You can listen to it here or subscribe on iTunes. This was a fun show... we had Latifah Al-Attas Phillips of Page CXVI and the Autumn Film on as our guest, and she talked about pop culture, Twilight and shared some music with us.

Anyway, if you enjoy podcasts, check it out. And if you don't like podcasts, pretend it's one of those drive time radio shows and enjoy it anyway.

Our new podcast: The StoryMen!

Yes, it's true. Clay Morgan, J.R. Forasteros and I have decided to start a semi-regular podcast together. We are, in fact, pod people.

For the uninitiated, basically a podcast is like a radio show. It's the three of us hanging out and talking about things that interest us. We'll have guests, we'll have fights, we'll have laughs. In fact, J.R. and I have a big fight in this one about whether Quantam of Solace was a good movie or not. Well. A minor disagreement, anyway.

The themes of StoryMen will be pop culture, theology and history. That's why we put it right in our banner.

You can listen to our PILOT EPISODE here, in which we talk about Star Wars, Skyfall and Biblical Womanhood. Yes, you read that correctly. We are that awesome.

You can join our Facebook group.

And, here's the StoryMen website.

THINGS YOU WILL DISCOVER IN THIS EPISODE:

1. Which of the StoryMen learned about Lucasfilm being purchased by Disney from Jordin Sparks.

2. Who Clay sides with on the Quantam of Solace debate!

3. What kind of homemade cookie my daughter delivers to me during recording!

4. And much, much more!
