Today after church I went on a lovely walk with my wife and then finished reading the book My Year Inside Radical Islam by Daveed Gartenstein-Ross.Daveed's story is fascinating and well written. He walks through his own history, going from a young man interested in social justice to a Muslim of the most conservative kind over the course of about a year. As he gets deeper into Islam he finds himself working for an organization that is (unbeknownst to him) funneling money to terrorists.
I won't give away more than that, but I was particularly intrigued by Gartenstein-Ross' description of what it's like to be an American college student looking for answers about who God is and how one can know him.
Pick up a copy, you'll enjoy reading it, I think.
