Things I've Been Thinking About This Week

English stage magician turned Nazi fighter, Jasper Maskelyne.

Nazi motorcycle, the 1942 BMW R75.

Pangaea.

Cowboy slang.

Wondering how long it will be before I'm forced by someone to use the term "ground truth" to refer to "field research." I heard someone on the radio this week saying she had been "ground truthing" the political situation in Portland. Blech.

Submitting comic book ideas to Dark Horse Comics.

  1. I think I know where you're going with this. It could be your next book. The ghost of Nazi fighter Jasper Maskelyne, seeking to find redemption for his sins, rides his ghost Nazi 1942 BMW R75 across the world, saving people from natural disasters, with the secret desire to bring the world into a new state of spiritual "Pangaea," a unified state where war will no longer be possible. He teams up with a cowboy ghost who rides a ghost horse, seeking to atone as well for massacrees against the indian folks. Meanwhile, a reporter, seeking ground truth about the latest rash of rescues, is thinking that this story might make her more money as a Dark Horse comic than as a news story, but is struggling with the fact that it would cost her the prestige and esteem of seeing it published by a "legit" news outfit.
